From the Louvre to the Eiffel Tower, from the Place de la Concorde to the Grand and Petit Palais, the evolution of Paris and its history can be seen from the River Seine. The Cathedral of Notre-Dame and the Sainte Chapelle are architectural masterpieces while Haussmann's wide squares and boulevards influenced late 19th- and 20th-century town planning the world over. Paris is without doubt one of the world's most beautiful cities. Teaming wonderful architecture with excellent food, quaint bars and boutiques, cobbled meandering streets and the rumbling Parisians, which in the end most of find endearing! Although you won't have any trouble seeing why Paris holds such a special place in the hearts of some of the world's most high-profile cultural intellectuals past and present, Paris also has a raw edge of graffiti, street-art and squat-culture, which gives it the accessible cultural energy with which it makes up for in its quiet nightlife. In the evenings, most people tend to go out for a couple of glasses of wine at their local bar or restaurant, but if the club scene is what you're after, then try the Batofar and the Rex, which are Paris' two main clubbing venues - electronic music is still all the rave, so don't expect too much variety if you're up for a bit of a boogie!
