Mauritius is another one of our spa hotspots. Bordered by a transparent turquoise ocean, lined by fine golden sand, the island makes for an ideal place to relax in an open-air spa. You can find spas in most hotels starting from 3 stars. All usually offer massages, hydrotherapy and high quality treatments. However, since most guests prefer branded spas, you will find that most luxury hotels will have a Dior or Givenchy spa. Veranda resorts (whom own the Heritage Hotel, the Pointe aux Biches, the Paul & Virginie and the Paladien Marina Hotel) have installed a Seven Colours spa at each hotel. The Seven Colours treatments combine chromatherapy (using coloured lights) with Hindu philosophy: 7 colours, 7 chakras (energy points in the body from head to the bottom of the spine), 7 rituals or personalised programs...it all starts with the testing of the chakras using a questionnaire. According to whether you are more intellectual, emotive or physical, the coloured light treatment used is adapted to suit you. All six hotels of this chain are stunning. We particularly like the Heritage Gold & Spa Resort, with its spa swimming pool surrounded by thatched-roofed treatment rooms under the blue skies of Mauritius.
