When you hear 'Isle of Wight', what springs to mind? Most people would say: 'Isle of Wight? Boring!' And how wrong these people are, as all of us who have actually been to this wonderful little haven of peace, beaches, scones and sailing can confirm! There are heaps of things to do, especially if you enjoy a bit of surfing, wake boarding, and the like. So, if you're not going to be attending the massive Isle of Wight Festival where big names like the Rolling Stones and Muse have headlined, get your space suit on (all will be explained on the Bestival website) and make sure you're in the Isle of Wight for the huge Bestival from 8th-11th September. Headlining this year will be none other than The Cure, as well as Primal Scream, Brian Wilson, Magnetic Man, and more! For the entire line-up check the trippy Bestival website. Tickets are available from Ticketline and Lastminute, or for ferry packages, see Redfunnel, Wightlink and Big Green Coach. The venue is the Robin Hill Countryside Adventure Park in Newport (with Ryde, Newport is the main ferry port from Southampton or Portsmouth). Bestival also recommends checking out www.liftshare.com: by sharing a car with someone already going, you can cut costs in half. Another way of getting yourself to the Bestival is by becoming a steward or a volunteer.
So what are you waiting for? A great line-up in an amazing location, head to the Bestival for a simple life of beautiful coastlines and lush green!
(For those who are unsure of where the Isle of Wight is, it is off the south coast of England, just under Portsmouth and Southampton, a short ferry ride away.)
