7 - Hawaii: the island of multiple volcanoes

Top 10 must-see volcanoes!

On the island of Hawaii, the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park includes two still active. Mauna Loa, the highest active volcano in the world at 13,678ft and with 150 miles of paths, opens up to hikers through wild landscapes habited by some of the rarest animals and plants in the world. Admire also the lava flows Kilauea Caldera on its East Rift Zone. Toward to the north of the territory, take the Saddle Road to reach Mauna Kea and admire on the way first the rainforest, then the dry prairies, followed by the fields of lava. From a height of over 13,800ft, Mauna Kea offers the best astronomical observation point in the world. Several difficult and precipitous roads, to be negotiated uniquely by 4x4, lead to exceptional panoramas from the volcanoes in the region.
