Manchester Airport yesterday drew a large crowd to welcome the delivery of its first Airbus A380 to coincide with Emirates' new daily service to Dubai.
The city is the first regional destination in the UK to receive the world's largest passenger plane, with a capacity of 500.
The Manchester - Dubai service will operate as a twice daily flight between the two cities.
Maurice Flanagan, Executive Vice Chairman for Emirates Airline said "This is a historic moment for Emirates as we bring our 21st century superjumbo to the North West."
"Our Manchester service has been an incredible success story, and we're delighted to be opening the next chapter today."
