The Cuban government has decided that from 1st May 2010 all foreign citizens, as well as Cubans living abroad, will have be obliged to possess travel insurance with medical cover in order to enter the country.
The new rules will apply equally to foreigners who opt to take temporary residency on the island. The only individuals who will be immune from the new laws are diplomats and representatives of international organisations on official visits.
At present, all British nationals require a visa to enter Cuba which should be obtained before travelling. Make sure you apply for the correct type of visa and that your passport is valid for six months following your departure from Cuba.
