After four years of construction, a new highway between New Delhi and Agra has just been opened by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, meaning that tourists wishing to visit the Taj Mahal from the capital can do so comfortably in just one day. The opening of the six-lane Yamuna expressway will cut the journey time from five hours to two and a half, although there are three tolls along the way which will set travellers back £6. If, however, you happen to be in India now, you have a couple of days before the charges come into operation on 15th August. The road, which is just over 100 miles, will grant access to the Taj Mahal to more tourists and ease traffic jams in the area.
