Greek Independence Day is on 25 March and parades will take place across Greece, however, it is possible that demonstrations will also occur in conjunction with the parades. There are regular demonstrations in Syntagma Square in central Athens and in the past the police have used tear gas to disperse the demonstrators.

British travellers are advised to keep abreast of local news and to avoid all public gatherings or crowds.

Advice on travel to Greece can be found on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) website.
