Rome Ciampino airport is due to close from 24 September to 2 October, for nine days of runway maintenance work.
Throughout this period, all Ryanair flights to and from Rome will use Fiumicino airport.
"Ryanair sincerely apologises to all passengers affected by this nine day closure," Ryanair communications manager Robin Kiely said in a statement today. "Any information updates will be published on the Ryanair.com website as they become available."
Fiumicino airport is about a 22 mile drive from Rome city centre; it is served by buses, taxis and even a train service, the Leonardo Express. It takes between 30 and 45 minutes in a non-stop trip that is provided every half an hour. The journey costs 14 euros.
