Travellers to London have a rush of last minute deals to stop wallets from being left empty this summer. The choice and price-ranges are extensive as a huge range of hotels, hostels and apartments have slashed their rates. Visitors can stay in the capital for reduced rates during the Olympics, which run until 12 August 2012, as well as after the frenzy.

Sports fans can stay in a London Travelodge for a very attractive £25.50 per night throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which conclude on 9 September. Likewise, the acclaimed Thistle hotel group are advertising rooms at half price during the same period. Travellers with a higher budget can get three nights for the price of two by holidaying at the swanky 5 star Royal Garden Hotel in the chic area of Kensington from 13 August until 9 September.

Fortunately for those who want to see the capital once the summer activity has died down, Hilton hotels are offering 40 per cent off. The savings are valid for bookings made before 30 August and include stays right through until 30 December 2012. Apartments are also available such as those reserved through Airbnb, which promises holiday-goers a more authentic local experience with savings of £25 on any booking over £85.

Britons and foreigners alike have a wealth of artistic and cultural events to entice them to London for summer 2012, in spite of the lacklustre weather. Attractions include the Regents Park Open Air Theatre, where thespians take to the stage playing out the best of Shakespeare, Leonardo Da Vinci art exhibitions at Buckingham Palace and the BBC Proms, which stages word-class classical music from 13 July until 8 September. Moreover, travellers can let loose and enjoy the vibrancy of Notting Hill Carnival in the wake of the Olympics over the August bank holiday weekend. Accommodation deals make visits more financially viable this summer, allowing a reasonably priced last minute break.
