Following from last week's global outrage at the treatment of United Airlines passenger, Dr David Dao, the airline have changed their crew travel policy to avoid future calamities and confusions.

The new company policy on employee travel has been put in place and now flight crews have a 60-minute cut-off to be booked onto a flight, unlike the previous option to be booked onto a flight anytime up until departure.

Dr David Dao was forcefully removed from the plane just before take-off and suffered from a broken nose and a concussion. The new and improved policy should mean that crew members will no longer be forcing passengers out of their seats who are already paying customers.

Oscar Munoz, CEO of the airline wrote a letter to speak of his ?shame' over the incident: "We know we did not measure up, and for that we will redouble our efforts to earn your trust.

"First, United will not ask law enforcement officers to remove passengers from our flights unless it is a matter of safety and security. Second, crews traveling on our aircraft must book at least 60 minutes prior to departure. Third, we will fully review and improve our training programs to ensure our employees are prepared and empowered to put our customers first. Our values will guide everything we do."

"We'll communicate the results of our review and the concrete actions we will take by April 30. Thank you for granting us the opportunity to re-earn your trust."

However, there has been a recent incident on a Costa Rica bound flight from Houston with United where a couple were kicked off a plane. The pair found a man asleep in their allocated seats so decided to sit in the empty 'economy plus' seats in front. They were asked to move and then proceeded to be asked to leave the flight.

The airline explained the incident in a statement: "These passengers repeatedly attempted to sit in upgraded seating which they did not purchase and they would not follow crew instructions to return to their assigned seats. We've been in touch with them and have rebooked them on flights tomorrow."

The couple then claimed to have been late for their own wedding celebrations due to the incident.
