Thuburbo Majus is one of the largest Roman sites in Tunisia. Founded in the 5th century BC, the city was colonised by the Phoenicians, and then invaded on several further occasions, especially by the Vandals. The ruins of the Capitol, the most impressive on the continent, with its podium, idol sanctuary, its forum, the Petronii palestra with its renowned mosaic of obese boxers and the summer baths with their different pools are all sites worth discovering.
