Antalya, a stylish Mediterranean city, is not lacking in charm, with its old port overlooked by lovely wooden houses, minarets dating back to the Seldjukide era and a certain laid-back rhythm of life. Its coast is flanked by superb sand and pebble beaches and absolutely pristine waters. The city and its surroundings are equally endowed with modern and varied tourist facilities (that have, unfortunately, disfigured some parts of the landscape). The Antalya region hosts numerous ancient vestiges reminiscent of the Roman, Byzantine, Turkish, and Greek eras. The sites of Termessos, Perge, Aspendos, and Side should be first on the list for all those hoping to discover the rich history of the region.
