The holiday season on the Aegean coast runs from May to October, and on the Mediterranean coast from March to October , with Mediterranean temperatures being 3° to 9°C warmer than those of the Aegean coast. Avoid travelling to Istanbul during the July-August heatwave. Winter is really cold in the East and in Cappadocia. The best period to visit most areas is from May to June and from September to October: the weather is hot and fewer tourists are present than in July-August.
