The Kalamaki national park, 17 miles south of Kusadasi and the Büyük delta, stretches across cotton fields and is home to the rarest Mediterranean species and birds theatened with extinction, such as the booted eagle, the peregrine falcone and the Dalmatian pelican. Jackals, lynxes, bears and wild boar thrive here in total freedom. This hilly peninsula with expanses of flowers and conifers is also a paradise for swimmers and bathers. Stretching over 5 miles, fine sand and pebble beaches lie hidden in small, sheltered creeks. Picnic areas have been laid out to welcome holidaymakers. This park, with its rugged and craggy landscape, hilltops, gorges and jagged coast, offers numerous possibilities for an excursion in the canyon.
