East of Belfast, walk along the coast to the Ards peninsula. Make a stopover at Mount Stewart House: this sumptuous 18th century home is surrounded by Italian-style gardens. The peninsula's microclimate is conducive to the growth of eucalyptus, palms and mimosas. Continue to Portaferry, at the end of the peninsula. From there, you will have a fabulous panorama of the coast.
