At Belfast, visit the Ulster Museum. Located in the botanic gardens adjacent to Queens University, the museum houses treasures recovered in the wreckage of the Girona, the vessel of the Invincible Armada that sunk in 1588 off the shores of the Giant's Causeway. It was carrying a huge load of precious objects: golden jewels (including a splendid salamander inlaid with rubis) and several coins. The other parts of the museum are dedicated to geology, history as well as classical and contemporary art: you will find lovely collections of paintings and antique furniture.
