The descent towards the south is a discovery of thousands of lakes and channels. The pines in the north are replaced by palm trees and gigantic areas of citrus fruit production. Florida is ranked first in terms of world production of grapefruits and oranges. The State ends the peninsula with the gigantic Everglades, the eternal marshlands and the string of islands, known as the 'Keys'.
