Times Square, Midtown Manhattan, New York Perhaps the most famous square in the world, Times Square is the beating heart of touristic Manhattan © Robert Glusic - age fotostock
From 30th Street to south of Central Park, Midtown earned New York the nickname of the "city that never sleeps" with its three main attributes: shopping, art and shows. Between 42nd Street and 53rd Street, you will find Times Square and Broadway, the boulevard of all dreams and kingdom of shows and musicals, with about 40 theatres (8 million spectators per year). In the grand avenues of Midtown, just look up and measure the skyscraper's omnipresent vertical height that has contributed to New York's identity. Next to the innumerable shops, the area is overflowing with world famous monuments, known for their architecture, for their contents or for both. Who hasn't heard of the Empire State Building on 5th Avenue, the Rockefeller Center (48th and 51st Streets), of Chrysler and the Mobil Towers (on Lexington Avenue), of Madison Square Garden (8th Avenue), of Carnegie Hall (154, 57th W Streets), of Macy's department store (7th Avenue) or of the United Nations' Headquarters?
