Cooking United States, New York

All world cuisines are represented in New York, with prestigious restaurants that will give the best European restaurants a run for their money (but also cost a pretty penny). For typical New York food, go to one of the city's thousands delicatessens. Menus of the day, served at lunch in restaurants, are generally priced reasonably, but the prices rise considerably in the evening. Eating ethnic food (Chinese, Indian, etc) can turn out to be a cheap solution. Other advice for low budgets: take advantage of the breakfast deals (eggs, bacon, sausage, toasts, etc) usually served until 11:00 am or noon, or sometimes later in the day, and at a very low price.
