Durazno

It is a charming little provincial town with little tourist attractions. Nevertheless it is always pleasant to stop here for a walk and to take in the few monuments. On Independence Square, you can visit a strange construction - the Durazno globe built in 1892. This globe contains messages, newspaper cuttings and statements left by the town's residents for their descendants; it is only opened once per century hence the next opening will be in 2092. Opposite this square is the church of San Pedro. A lovely park welcomes visitors into the city.
