On Malekula, the north coast from Lamap to Sanwir (50 miles) is worth discovering above all else. The route crosses palm plantations and traditional villages, then along a rocky coast scattered with beaches. Resist the temptation to swim as sharks are common and accidents have already happened. However, you can take a trip to Atchin Island, which has kept a marked traditional feel about it; the craftwork is plentiful and of a very good quality.
