Visit St Joseph's church (the oldest on the island) which is found in Mala'efo'ou village (5 miles south of Mata-Utu). The interior is decorated with biblical scenes, but also frescoes of fish and shells, recalling the designs seen on tapas (local, traditional fabrics).
