Zambia shares the Victoria Falls with its neighbour Zimbabwe. "The thundering mist" (Mosi-oa-tunya) is found within the National Park that shares its name, to which an entry fee is charged. The falls drop 354 ft into a 246 ft wide gorge. The panorama is exceptional and is one of the world's greatest natural attractions, in the summer, up to 180 million cu ft of water from these falls every minute. The best season to enjoy the countryside is between May and September, during the dry season. From this side to the edge, you can go just above the water, follow paths running above the abyss and then descend a steep path to the base of the falls. A must is to have a champagne picnic on Livingstone Island, an enormous rocky block separating the falls in two, it's certainly not for the faint hearted!
