Discover The ancient Greek city of Apollonia Albania

Seven and a half miles from the town of Fier, Apollonia is the site of monumental temple ruins, supported by five Corinthian pillars in front of the obelisk of Apollo, the theatre, the Odeon and column of shops. Originally a Greek city and later a flourishing Roman city, it had received from Caesar the title of Free Town. Later, in the 13th century, a monastery which surrounds a Byzantine church built in the next century was constructed on this site.
