The Sahara Desert, that covers 90% of the country's surface area is one of the most impressive in the world. Neither flat nor monotonous, it offers a multiplicity of varying landscapes. This is the domain of Tuaregs, Berber nomadic tribes with African blood, who ply the desert in Meharis.
The Algerian coast that stretches 746 miles along the Mediterranean, lodges a few seaside resorts that used to be bright and very popular, such as the holiday club Tipaza, constructed by the architect Le Corbusier, or that of Zeralda which is also a replica of a Nomadic village.
In the past often referred to as the loft of Rome, Algerian monuments offer an insight into its complex and multi-layered past.
