Discover The Imperial Villa at Bad Ischl Austria

Lost in the heart of a 25 hectare park and Alpine mountains is the Imperial Villa at Bad Ischl, where the royal couple stayed. From the old conference hall to the apartments passing by the small chapel, a lot of decorations, paintings and furniture date from this era. The curtains (preserved intact) are original. At the end of the corridor on the first floor is the Emperor's narrow office by his bedroom with spartan decoration. In this room (where you can find the first Siemens ventilator) he signed the declaration of war against Serbia on 28 June 1914. At the bottom of the staircase, a collection of stuffed birds (including capercaillies) bears witness to his passion for ornithology, amongst wild boars, hares, and deers. Hunting is undeniably present in this small castle exhibiting 2,000 trophies. Chamois antlers can be found on the walls of the ground floor, with the places and dates meticulously indicated on each plaque. After the smoking room, showing period clothes, a Bohemian crystal chandelier hangs in the dining room, set in accordance with the customs of the time. The park offers a surprising view of the surrounding mountains.
