Sucre

Our Editorial team's advice

Also classified as world heritage, Sucre (7,544 feet) has maintained its colonial architecture intact. This is a charming town with white buildings everywhere. This is a town of museums and art, and is ideal for relaxation. The treasure of the cathedral, the Virgin of Guadalupe, drawn on a plate of gold set in silver, is a major piece of work that should not be missed. The inhabitants take her out into the streets once a year, during the celebration of the Virgin. You must not miss the La Merced church (17th century) and its painted facade either. You may also visit the old university of the Casa de la Libertad and the Textile museum, which explains the techniques for manufacturing Bolivian fabrics. Finally, take the time to enjoy the night life, which is at its height in the various bars of the town.
