The Oriente region occupies the whole of the northern and eastern part of the country, or more than 70% of the territory. As opposed to the Altiplano and the cordilleras, this is a torrid area, consisting of plains, and the Amazon forests to the north. The temperature reaches more than 37°C, and the humidity is suffocating. When arriving by Trinidad, you can take a mini-cruise on the river Mamore. Fishing for piranhas and hunting for alligators will form part of the programme.
