Located in the west of the country, Bujumbura is the capital of Burundi. It is a fairly green city with very few tall constructions.
Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi, is located on the banks of Lake Tanganyika. As the country was colonised by the Germans at the end of the 19th century, the style and architecture of the town reflect this period. The town has three museums and an Islamic cultural centre. Although you wouldn't immediately think to travel to Bujumbura, it's worth a short stay at least.
