Discover Parc National de la Kibira Burundi

There are 120 mi of tracks that will take you around the 100,000 acres of the park, but only on foot! Cars are not allowed. Kibira's National Park and Mount Teza are located at an altitude of 4,500-7,000 ft. It is a superb range of mountains, on the Zaire-Niln ridge. Formerly a sacred hunting site of the kings of Burundi, it is now home to over 100 mammal species, 200 bird species, and many primates. Unfortunately, the park was very badly affected by the war in Burundi, and, in particular, by massive illegal deforestation. You should also be warned to stay clear of some parts of the park because of the presence of fighters of the National Liberation Front.
