Discover Niagara Falls
The most important tourist destination in the whole of Ontario is between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario: the famous Niagara Falls. Formed 10,000 years ago when the glaciers retreated, they actually consist of two waterfalls. The Niagara river separates to fall at more than 200 feet over a width of 1,000 feet with a flow of 14 million litres of water a second! This is the American waterfall. The Canadian waterfall, in the shape of a horseshoe, 177 feet high and 2,200 feet wide, with a flow of 155 million litres of water a minute, is no less impressive. These natural formations are so beautiful that you forget the numerous tourists around you!
