Remember that between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday there is a congestion charge to pay of 8 per day. It could be cheaper to leave the car just outside the congestion zone as the price of parking meters there are reasonable and often free at night. While there are many ways to get your own car to London, the whole process can be lengthy and expensive, so better hire a car once in town and take advantage of the opportunities it can bring, especially out of town. In town, you can get around by bus or underground which will drop you off at your destination for a modest fee.

Visiting London by car

Renting a car always you a bit of liberty in the city where the sales never end. The Westfield Centre has just opened up in Shepherds Bush not far from Notting Hill and is one of the biggest retail shopping centres in Europe. Open from 9am until 10pm, whether you're after good value fashion or something special by a top designer, all the big names are represented. If you're thinking about a day trip however, then you need go no further than either Stonehenge, Stratford or Oxford.
For those who like to spend their evenings at the pub, you'll find plenty of good beers, music and great value food in the capital. During the day Big Ben, Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens (where you can have a swim or rent a rowing boat) await. Don't forgot though to hop on a double decker bus via the British Museum and the National Gallery, both among the greatest exhibitions in the world. There really is so much to discover in London.
