NDjamena was once one of the most bustling cities in Central Africa. Although war had great impact on it, as is shown by the walls of its buildings, the city has managed to regain its joyfulness and dynamism. The historic quarter is amazing! Its colourful daily market offers you a view of Chadian daily life and beautiful carpets and jewels, made on the spot. The national museum is home to a collection relating the Sarh culture which stretches back to the 9th century. If you travel to N'Djamena you will find a stark contrast between the Islamic neighbourhoods and the southern districts, with its many nightclubs and bars.
