Discover Armana Egypt

The ancient capital of the Middle Kingdom of Egypt, Akhetaton was, it seems, a joyful place full of splendour, a sort of mirror of the life of pleasure the royal family treated itself to. Amenhotep IV and his wife Nefertiti lived here until their death, but when their successors were forced by the clergy to return to Thebes, the city of Akhetaton was abandoned and disappeared from the maps.

Discovered in 1887, now called Tell el-Amarna, it is one of the most mysterious sites in Egypt. In archaeological terms, the plain of Amarna has provided a huge amount of information and some very beautiful objects.
