Discover Temple of Hathor Egypt

40 miles north of Luxor, hidden by a curtain of palm trees, you will find the small town of Dendera and the large temple of Hathor. Completed during the Roman period, 250 years after it was first started by Ptolemy, the great temple of Hathor is one of the youngest but best preserved constructions in Egypt. Even if some of the rooms were used as accommodations at the beginning of the 20th century and the outside walls are crumbling in certain spots.

Dedicated to the goddess Hathos, minder of the gods and the patron of music, dance and love games, she was sometimes compared to Isis and Aphrodite. In Egyptian mythology, it was in Dendara that Hathor gave birth to Horus' son, Ihi.
