Air Asia is a low cost Asian airline company created in 1993. The airline's base is in Kuala Lumpur, one of the two capitals in Malaysia. Air Asia has close ties with France and the Air Asia fleet has been expanding rapidly since 2004 when it ordered more than 475 planes from the company Airbus. Passengers are allowed one item of Air Asia carry on baggage no bigger than 56x36x23cm and no heavier than 7kg. There is an extra charge for hold baggage which can be added when booking your Air Asia ticket. The Air Asia baggage cost for these items depends on their weight (15kg, 20kg, 25kg, 30kg and 40kg).Customers are encouraged to make use of the Air Asia online check in service which can be done either online or using a smartphone. This is available 14 days before your flight departure and remains open until one hour before take-off. However, under 16s, pregnant women, travellers with health problems who require assistance when flying, and those travelling with children are not permitted to check in online.Those not willing or not able to check in from home should note that the check in desk at the airport opens three hours before the flight departure. It closes one hour before take-off for international flights, and between 45 minutes and one hour for Air Asia domestic flights.
