Air France is the biggest French airline and was inaugurated in 1933. In 2004 Air France and KLM became partners and formed the group Air France KLM which was the first European air transport group. The group has at its disposal 606 aircrafts and the KLM Air France route map consists of 250 destinations across the world: Africa, the Americas, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Oceaniaetc. Numerous other destinations are also proposed by KLM, the Dutch national airline company allied with Air France since 2004, as well as all other members of the Skyteam alliance.
The SkyTeam alliance was created in 2000 and nowadays unites Air France, KLM, Aeroflot, AeroMexico, Alitalia, CSA Czech Airlines, delta Air Line, China Southern Airlines, Continental Airlines, Northwest Airlines and Korean Air. The Air France fleet consists of 402 aircrafts (chiefly Airbus and Boeing) used by this airline company and its affiliates to fly to around 183 destinations in 93 countries around the world. 593 of these planes are owned by the Air France - KLM alliance.
Air France transports 497 passengers around the world annually, making it the 10th largest airline company in the world, with 1500 daily passengers and 800 travellers flying from its base at the Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport each day.
The Air France KLM group has acquired 25% of shares in Alitalia since 2009.

When packing for your trip with Air France it is worth being aware of the Air France baggage restrictions. Baggage allowances vary according to the different flight classes. In Economy class passengers are permitted one bag weighing no more than 23kg, or two bags in Air France Premium Economy. In Business class, you can bring to bags weighing up to 32kg each, and First Class passengers are permitted three bags. Each bag must not be bigger than 158cm (length + width + height).
