Air Transat : History

Air Transat is a Canadian airline based in Montreal, Quebec. Air Transat operates international, regular and charter flights. The airline is part of the Transat group. It was founded in 1987 and nowadays sends Air Transat flights to over 60 destinations across the world. It is the fourth largest Canadian airline company and the founding member of the Canadian airline national council. The Air Transat route map mainly consists of seasonal flights to across Europe and Canada. In the summer season, the airline directs 64 direct Air Transat flights from seven Canadian cities to 31 cities in Europe. In winter, it hosts flights to Antilles, Mexico, the USA and Central America. The main Air Transat ports are located at the Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau airport in Montreal, the Pearson International Airport in Toronto, the Vancouver International airport, the Stanfield International Airport in Halifax and the Jean-Lessage International Airport in Quebec. In 2011, Air Transat carriers transported an incredible 3,800,000 passengers. The Air Transat fleet comprised of 25 aircrafts in 2014, mainly Boeing and Airbus.

Check-in

The Air Transat baggage allowance permits one item of hand luggage smaller than 23x40x51cm for all ticket classes. In Air Transat Economy Class this item must not surpass 10kg in weight, and in Club Class the maximum weight is 15kg. The weight allowance for hold items varies depending on the flight destination and the booking class. Club Class ticket holders are permitted hold bags weighing up to 40kg.
There are several ways to complete your Air Transat check in: using the Air Transat online check in service which opens 24 hours before the flight departure and closes 2 hours before take-off. This is the most practical way of checking in since it allows customers to avoid long queues at the airport. Passengers can also check in at the airport desk. Those flying to the USA, Canada and Europe must check in four hours before the scheduled flight departure.
All Air Transat check in counters close one hour before take-off and if you try to check in less than an hour before your flight departure you risk being turned away.

The Air Transat inflight entertainment service is one of the best in the country, even for those travelling in Economy Class. Travellers have access to a wide range of films, television series and music via either individual or communal screens depending on the ticket class.
