Flight destination: Cebu

Mactan Cebu International Airport is approximately a 25minute drive away from the city. The airport boasts a shopping centre with duty-free shops, eateries, food stores, and beauty services. Many hotels offer a pre-booked shuttle van service, or it's possible to catch a taxi to the city. Metered taxis are available outside of the airport, and charge a fair price. For those that would prefer their own use of a vehicle, there are car rental companies located within the airport. For those on a budget, travelling by Jeepney is also a cheap alternative. There is a wealth of attractions to visit, and things to do in this fascinating city. A must visit is the Basilica del Santo Ni˝o, which is a large church that dates back to the 16th century. It is home to the statue of Santo Ni˝o, which is encrusted with precious stones and gold. Inside the Basilica is also a museum that exhibits elaborate vestments and jewellery. Situated by Pier 1 is the historical Fort San Pedro. This fort was originally constructed in 1738, and was used as a military defence against raiders. The fort consisted of 14 canons, a number of which remain on site for public viewing. Today, the restored fort serves as a museum, and its inner court is also used as an open-air theatre. For those that fancy a day out island hopping, there are ferryboats that operate regular trips to neighbouring islands. A trip to this stunning city isn't complete without taking the time to visit the Tops. This is located at the peak of Mount Busay, and provides a magnificent view over the city. It can be reached by mountain bike or taxi.
