Delta Airlines : History
Delta Airlines is an American airline company. Initially an agricultural company created in 1924, it began to focus on commercial flights from 1929. Today, Delta is the main airline company in the world, with 75,000 employees. In June 2000, Delta founded an alliance called SkyTeam with Air France, Korean Air and Aeromexico. It is the second biggest airline alliance in the world: made up of 20 companies. Thanks to some American mergers, Deltas planes fly to nearly 375 destinations in 66 countries. Within the French market, since 2008, Delta flies daily from Paris and Lyon Saint-Exupéry to Salt Lake City and New York JFK. The American company collaborates with Air France KLM in the Atlantic market.
In December 2014, the company counted a fleet of 771 aircrafts, without including certain airplanes of its American affiliates. These included Airbuses, Boeings and McDonnell Douglas.
Delta Airlines : Information about the airline
For a Delta Airlines flight in Economy, one piece of hand luggage (with dimensions of 56 x35 x23cm) is allowed on board. For those who have luggage for the hold, the restrictions are universal with the weight limit set at 23kgs. In First class, each passenger is allowed two bags weighing up to 32kgs each. After that, each additional piece of luggage costs (75 US dollars). It is worth noting that these allowances are for flights between the United States and Europe. The restrictions may vary depending on the flights destination. There are additional fees if you are travelling with animals or oversized luggage.
Online bookings are advised. In case of loss or theft, your e-ticket can be reissued more easily. You must carry your ticket with you at all times during your flight.
For those with only hand luggage, it is possible to check-in online using the Delta Airlines website, in order to avoid check-in queues at the airport. Online check-in is also possible for those with hold luggage, but you must still go to the check-in desk to drop your bags at the airport.
For international flights, it is recommended to arrive at the airport 3 hours before departure. Passengers must also be at the boarding gate, 45 minutes before take-off. Please note certain passengers may be refused at the boarding gate if they do not follow these recommended procedures. For domestic flights (within the United States), it is advised to arrive at the airport 75 minutes before departure, and to be ready to embark 15 minutes before take-off. We advise you to check these details on Delta Airlines website.
