Doha is the capital city of Qatar, a small state on the Persian Gulf. This city, very similarly to Dubai, is experiencing great changes and development, with great investments being done in the city. The city offers a variety of activities and things to see. For example, many museums are being set up and there are some interesting cultural institutions you can visit, such as the Museum of Islamic Arts, the Msheireb Enrichment Centre, the Mathaf Museum and the Katara Cultural Village. If you would prefer to explore outside of the city, Doha is close to the Dhal Al Misfir cave and the desert, with its interesting phenomenon of 'Singing Dunes', where the wind creates a musical murmur. In terms of leisure and entertainment, Doha offers many facilities and activities in parks, beaches, theatres and restaurants. The city's international airport is the hub for Qatar Airways and has connections to most of the world's important cities, such as London, Istanbul, New York, Rome and Tokyo. If you're searching for a cheap flight leaving from London, you can find one with our online comparison tool, which allows you to compare airfare tickets helping you to find the best deal to suit your budget and schedule.
Doha is close to its airport, but the only way to make the trip to the city is by taxi (or hotel shuttle). Travel times average around 25-30 minutes. Although the city does not offer a specific tourist card, the Qatar Tourism Authority (which has a very good website) provides all the information necessary for tourists: activities to do, where to eat, shopping facilities, landmarks and how to plan your trip. After some visiting and sightseeing, you might want to unwind in one of the city's many hotels, equipped with incredible facilities, or enjoy a shopping trip to a shopping mall (the most famous is Villaggio, alongside City Center Doha) and the traditional souqs. Since the city is expanding internationally, there are many cuisines available, though you should try the Qatari cuisine, with its seafood and lamb specialties. If you wish to see more of the region, you should visit Dubai or Abu Dhabi, which can be reached by plane. Alternatively, you could take a short cruise in the Persian Gulf.
