Planes will not land when there is fog present and will be diverted to Iceland until the weather improves.

The annual Ovastevna on Nólsoy is celebrated at the beginning of August. This festival is in memory of Ove Joensen who rowed from Nólsoy to Copenhagen in a Faroese boat.
