KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is a Dutch airline founded in Amsterdam in 1919. It is at the heart of the KLM Group which also includes KLM Cityhopper and Transavia. Following the merging of KLM and Air France in 2004, the two companies now work closely together and KLM flights serve 326 destinations around the world with connections in Paris Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam-Schiphol airport. KLM Air France is the largest airline group and the second largest cargo carrier in the world.KLM joined the SkyTeam alliance, the second largest airline alliance, in September 2004. KLM airlines now operates international flights to around 131 destinations in 65 different countries. Its headquarters are at the Amsterdam Schiphol airport in the Netherlands. KLM also shares its loyalty programme, Flying Blue, with Air France. In 2014, the KLM fleet was made up of 211 aircrafts, principally Boeing and Airbus.

KLM baggage restrictions vary depending on the ticket booking class. KLM Economy Class passengers are permitted one bag weighing no more than 23kg; KLM First Class and Premier Class ticket holders can bring two bags each weighing less than 23kg. Hand baggage must also have dimensions of less than 55 x 25 x 35cm and the number of bags allowed under the Iberia hand baggage allowance differs between Economy and Business/First Class (one item in Economy Class; two in Business/First).KLM check in can be effectuated in two different ways. Passengers can either check in at the airport desk or those wishing to avoid long queues can make use of the KLM online check in service which is available 24 hours before the flight departure. Self-service check in kiosks are also available at the airport.
