Flights to Leipzig from £91

Leipzig is a city located in the state of Saxony, in the east of Germany. For centuries, it was one of Europe's most important cultural and musical centres, and this is reflected in its heritage. Nevertheless, its great past has not stopped it from becoming one of the world's most innovative cities, making the city a beautiful contrast of new architecture and Renaissance and Baroque buildings. Once home to artists like Schumann, Mendelssohn and Goethe, the city still runs a large number of cultural events, such as musical festivals (i.e. the Bach Festival), various theatre festivals and the Leipzig Book Fair. One of the city's great monuments is the Monument to the Battle of Nations, a colossal building, considered a fine example of Wilhelmine architecture, stands at over 90m and has a viewing platform. The city's airport is connected to all the main cities in Germany and many European cities, including Rome, London and Vienna.
