Mazatlan is the second largest city in the Mexican state of Sinaloa. Located on the picturesque Pacific coast at the base of the Sierra Madre mountains, it is one of the Mexican Riviera's most sought after yet unspoilt resort areas. The city is has two strikingly different zones: Zona Dorada and Centro Historico(Historic Downtown). Zona Dorada is dotted with sophisticated hotels, bars, resorts and shops that sprang up after Hollywood discovered the city in the 1940's. But Centro Historico retains the old world charm with traditional neighbourhoods, cafes and markets that transport you back to the way local life was before tourism flourished in the city. Pino Suarez, the bustling central market, is a wonderful place to experience local culture and purchase some excellent fresh produce, especially the shrimps and other seafood. A flight to Mazatlan is easy to find and with an online comparison tool.
With stretches of golden beaches, blue lagoons and a spectacular shoreline sprinkled with beckoning islands, the city is a paradise for beach lovers. Playa Olas Altas, Playa Brujas and Playa Cerritos are some of the most popular beaches in the city. A perfect destination for water sport enthusiasts, the city offers a wide variety of recreational activities, including water-skiing, kayaking, windsurfing and diving. If sport fishing is your thing, you can have a splendid day fishing in the sea on a sailboat to land the catch of your lifetime. What's more, you can even cook your fresh catch at one of the local restaurants after you return back. Home to one of the finest collections of centuries-old carved stones, Las Labradas is the biggest open-air museum in Mexico. This indigenous pre-hispanic archaeological site is located in the fishing village on the San Ignacio beach. The 19-kilometre picture-perfect promenade is an ideal setting for a casual evening stroll, and you can sight fanciful sculptures portraying the city's fascinating history along the way. If you feel tired and would like to hit the sack, you can catch a Pulmonia, the city's iconic open-air taxi, and head back to your place of stay in style and comfort.
