Royal Air Maroc is the product of the merging of Air Atlas and Air Maroc (28th June 1957). It is the main airline in Morocco and one of the biggest in Africa along with EgyptAir, Ethiopian Airlines and South African Airways. Royal Air Maroc is also known for being one of the safest airlines. The company’s headquarters are based in Casablanca. The Royal Air Maroc route map consists of a large network of destinations in Africa, Europe, North America, Asia and the Arabian Peninsula. The Royal Air Maroc fleet is made up of 49 aircrafts, especially Boeing.In 1957, the Moroccan state owned 68% of the company.Following Economy success in 2006, the airline wished to create a Royal Air Maroc alliance with other African airlines like Atlas Blue (low cost airline), Air Senegal International (of which they already owned 51%), Atlas Hospitality (medical transport) and Atlas Multiservices (recruitment agency for the group Royal Air Morocco). It is now a member of the SkyTeam alliance.The group could not buy Air Mauritania because this company did not have the exclusivity on its territory.

Royal Air Maroc cabin baggage allowance varies according to the ticket book class. Economy Class ticket holders can bring one bag weighing up to 23kg, while in Royal Air Maroc passengers are permitted two bags under 23kg in weight. Members of Royal Air Maroc Safar, Flyer Gold, Silver and Ambassador can bring a third bag for no extra cost.Royal Air Maroc baggage weighing more than 32kg must travel on the airline's cargo service and there is a tax imposed for each overweight bag which varies according to the flight destination and number of supplementary bags.Royal Air Maroc check in opens two hours before the flight departure and passengers must check in at the airport. It then closes 45-50 minutes before the airplane is due to take off.
