The 'wall of the writers'

This huge wall fresco covers the entire side of this house in the middle of Lyon. A circuit was created to admire the various frescos around the quays of the Saône.

'Mur de Canuts' (Wall of the 'Silk Workers of Lyon'): This 1,200m² fresco is the largest in Europe. Originally blank, the wall now illustrates the everyday life of the locals.
Boulevard des Canuts - Lyon 4th arrondissement.

'Fresque des Lyonnais': everyone famous from Lyon's history has a place on this wall. Displaying 30 different faces of men and women originally from Lyon and who made a mark on history, such as Blandine, Paul Bocuse, Juliette Récamier, Ampère, Saint-Exupéry, Bertrand Tavernier, Bernard Pivot, etc., it is one the city's major attractions.
Corner of Quai Saint-Antoine/Rue de la Martinière - Lyon 1st arrondissement.

'Mur du Cinéma': Born in this city in 1895 thanks to the Lumières brothers, cinema also has its own wall fresco in Lyon. Summarising the history of cinema since its beginnings, with the 'Workers Leaving The Lumière Factory in Lyon' to paintings of present-day movie posters, it's not just a fresco but a genuine sort of painted history of cinema.
Corner of Quai Saint-Antoine/Rue de la Martinière - Lyon 1st arrondissement.

'Fresques des Laboratoires Lipha': scientific research is honoured on this wall. The most famous names from Lyon in the science world have their portrait here: Claude Bernard, Auguste Lumière, Rabelais, Léon Bérard, René Leriche, etc.
115 Avenue Lacassagne - Lyon 3rd arrondissement.

'Fresque de Gerland': this fresco is a resume of the important moments and buildings in the neighbourhood: Halle Tony Garnier, business parks, 'grandes écoles', etc. It is right next to the stadium where matches during the '98 World Cup were played, and so fans will naturally be able to see a collection of souvenirs from that time. 18 Rue Pierre de Coubertin - Lyon 7th arrondissement.

'Fresque Montluc': a place of detention, Montluc is home to this fresco where the hazy image of Jean Moulin floats against a backcloth inspired by Van Gogh's 'Wheatfield of Crows', as a symbol of imprisonment and suffering.
Rue du Dauphiné - Lyon 3rd arrondissement.
