Flanked to the south and west by dry moats, the keep is the oldest part of the château, consisting of the 11th and 12th century keeps that were joined during the Renaissance.
In the 14th century, four round towers were added, and in the 16th century, the 'Saint George' tower and the keep were connected by a new wing.
Inside, the 'François 1er' or 'Quatre Saisons' (four seasons) room is decorated with frescoes depicting scenes of outdoor work.
