Discover Fauna Georgia

Georgia once hosted a particularly important population of wolves, brown bears and lynxes. Today, it has greatly decreased but some species still remain present on the territory. Squirrels, deer and foxes live together in the hardwood forests. Chamois, ibexes and mountain sheep populate the upper part of the pastures, while a wide variety of bird species populate the entire country. You can observe (among other species) the peregrine falcon, griffon vulture, the harrier but also the Eurasian black vulture or the Golden Eagle. The coastline hosts pelican and stork colonies.
